Since the founding of Beacon Hill Village in 2002, this model of aging in place has spread to 40 U.S. states. When Susan McWhinney-Morse was preparing to retire, the then-65-year-old Bostonian couldn’t imagine leaving her home. But she didn’t want to burden her family with having to check up on her.
